GATE Production and Industrial Engineering (PI)

No complex variables and no Fourier series — this paper’s five headings are linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, probability and statistics, and numerical methods, so the Complex Variables and Transforms chapters are not on your syllabus. Your Differential Equations heading opens with first-order equations, linear and nonlinear, which are in the borrowed first-order chapter; the higher-order, Euler–Cauchy, boundary-value and Laplace-transform items are in the Differential Equations chapter. Two named sub-items have no mathematics chapter of their own: linear regression is taught in this paper’s Operations Research chapter, as least-squares causal forecasting, and the Taylor series of a function of a real variable is not taught in any of the mathematics chapters this paper receives. All six discipline sections are written too — General Engineering, Manufacturing Processes I and II, Quality and Reliability, Industrial Engineering, and Operations Research and Operations Management — so the whole PI paper is covered and the full 65-question paper is available in the mock.

Frequently asked questions

Is this GATE Production and Industrial Engineering material free?

Yes. Every chapter is free to read in English and Hindi. A free account adds scored practice, the full-length PI mock test in the real 65-question pattern, and the AI mentor.

How much of the GATE PI syllabus is covered?

The whole paper: 10 Engineering Mathematics chapters as this paper's syllabus words them, and 6 chapters across all 6 discipline sections. General Aptitude is shared by every paper.

What is the GATE exam pattern?

65 questions for 100 marks in 180 minutes: General Aptitude for 15 marks and the paper for 85. A wrong MCQ costs a third of its marks; MSQ and NAT questions carry no negative marking.
