GATE Ecology and Evolution (EY)

Your paper has no Engineering Mathematics section. Its mathematics is Section 3, Mathematics and Quantitative Ecology, one of five sections, and it is asked with ecological data. The derivative and the slope of a function are in the borrowed derivatives chapter (its techniques and optimisation go further than your list); basic and conditional probability are in the borrowed Probability and Statistics chapter; the binomial, Poisson and normal distributions are in the GATE Probability and Statistics chapter, whose uniform and exponential distributions you can skip. Two chapters are written for this paper alone, because no shared chapter teaches what they do: simple functions as ecological models and how to read them on log axes, permutations and combinations, probability applied to detection and spatial dispersion, and descriptive statistics with the coefficient of variation and confidence intervals; and study design, hypothesis testing, p-values, Type I and Type II errors, the t and chi-square tests, correlation, linear regression and ANOVA. No integration, differential equations or matrices are named in Section 3. All four discipline sections — Ecology, Evolution, Behavioural Ecology, and Applied Ecology & Evolution — have chapters of their own.
