GATE Biotechnology (BT)

Your linear algebra stops at eigenvalues, so the vector-space chapter is not yours. Your calculus is multivariable — limits and continuity in several variables, partial derivatives, maxima and minima, gradient, divergence and curl — and it adds sequences and series with a test for convergence. Differential equations include Cauchy–Euler equations and Laplace transforms; there are no complex variables and no Fourier series. Four of your sub-items are in a chapter written for this paper alone: tests for convergence, limits in two variables, correlation and regression, and Bayesian statistics. All five discipline sections — General Biology, Genetics, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Fundamentals of Biological Engineering, Plant, Animal and Microbial Biotechnology, and Recombinant DNA technology and Other Tools — have chapters, so you get the whole 65-question paper.

Frequently asked questions

What does the GATE Biotechnology course cost?

The first chapter of the GATE course is free. Every chapter of this paper, in English and Hindi, unlocks with the GATE plan — ₹29 a month, less than ₹1 a day, cancel anytime — with scored practice and the full-length BT mock test in the real 65-question pattern. Premium adds the AI mentor.

How much of the GATE BT syllabus is covered?

The whole paper: 8 Engineering Mathematics chapters as this paper's syllabus words them, and 10 chapters across all 5 discipline sections. General Aptitude is shared by every paper.

What is the GATE exam pattern?

65 questions for 100 marks in 180 minutes: General Aptitude for 15 marks and the paper for 85. A wrong MCQ costs a third of its marks; MSQ and NAT questions carry no negative marking.
